Durham Organics Directory
The Durham Region Organics Directory is an initiative by the Durham chapter of Canadian Organic Growers to create a list of environmentally responsible and organic growers, distributors and retailers that are located within or are marketing directly to the consumer within the borders of Durham Region. The goal of this project is to improve the ability of Durham Region residents to access locally produced and sold organic foodstuffs. This directory is intended to facilitate relationships between consumers and farmers, and also between the farmers themselves; with the ultimate hope of creating stronger community food security within the Durham Region. Disclaimer: COG-Durham does not specifically endorse any names on this list; we provide it only as a resource. Although all members of the Durham Region Organics Directory grow or sell foodstuffs that use environmentally sustainable or natural growing practices, only some are certified organic, the onus is on the consumer to determine whether a grower or retailer on the directory meets their own particular standards and criteria — ask questions — we encourage all consumers to develop a personal relationship with their grower/retailer and ultimately with their community.
